Georgian / Victorian cornices cleaned / restored back to their original detailed plasterwork patterns, by removing multi-layers of paints and distempers.
No high pressure steam used, therefore no damage is caused to cornices or plaster mouldings.
The method I use for cleaning cornices is paint stripper, then a special distemper softener. This results in the original plasterwork patterns of cornices being exposed, many of which are intricate.
The clogging of cornices is mainly due, roughly to 80% distemper and only 20% paint. Paint stripper alone will not clean cornice mouldings etc.
Distemper was used on cornices in bygone days; it is a thick chalky substance which was used many times at different stages by decorators, resulting in clogged cornices\' loss of detail. In later years cornices were then painted with modern paint, mostly emulsion, sometimes gloss - sometimes both. This was applied on cornices which had earlier been painted with distemper.

Repainting Cornices
Repainting cornices which have been cleaned and stripped.
I am very careful not to over-paint the fine plaster detail of cornices - the less paint the better they look.
I can also take on this work, as well as paint effects on plaster cornices.
